Hi guys, have a autocom super pro with the blue tooth module and a 660 running off it. Can't seem to get much volume. Nav is turned up full and the volume on autocom. If I just plug my phone into autocom and forget about the nav there is piles of volume. Any help really appreciated.

does this help ? :

http://www.chainspeed.co.uk/pages/Garmin-Zumo-660-Help.html

" Headphone : All audio, apart from that of the Mobile phone, is transmitted over the wired audio output plug of the harness (earphones). (NB. If the zümo is not in the motorcycle mount, this option will be “Internal Speaker” and not “Headphone”.)

Phone audio is transmitted over Bluetooth and music over the earphone is muted during calls.

Bluetooth Headset: All audio will be transmitted via Bluetooth.

Important to note that (probably due to a bug) the volume over the wired output, significantly drops (I would guess about 30%) when the headset Bluetooth connection is established between the zümo and the Bluetooth headset.

Interestingly enough, these settings are not available on the BMW Navigator IV. With the BMW Navigator IV, all audio is transmitted via Bluetooth. If the BMW Navigator IV is mounted in the zümo 660 mount, you can get audio from the audio output socket of the zümo 660’s harness, but all audio will be transmitted over the wired earphones, even that of the mobile phone. On the BMW Navigator IV, the audio can in other words not be split between wired earphones and Bluetooth headset."

Cheers Chris but I am totally lost with this at minute. Probably simple fix. The blue tooth unit under seat is picking up the nav but just very little volume. Any more than 30 mph and its impossible to hear. I have no wire connection between nav and autocom unit

When I set up mine I was advised to wire the music and navigation and to Bluetooth phone only. Can't honestly remember why (it was something to do with sound quality) but it works perfectly and levels are excellent. You could test this by simply running a standard audio lead direct to the autocom and configuring Bluetooth for phone only.

Chain speed advised me to Bluetooth, as I was for just wiring it but was told as filters in the wire it cut the volume down greatly.

Got the updated Bluetooth module back from chain speed. Volume still quite low. If I use just a lead from nav to autocom volume is magic. I know autocom do a lead for the garmin 660 to run phone through it. Has anyone any experience of this lead and is volume good. If so ill ditch the Bluetooth unit. I like using the garmin with the phone through it as can see who is phoning

Easiest fix is to hardwire all items and bin the bluetooth as its usually the reason for problems.
All i bluetooth is phone to Zumo which keeps the volume up, when i can be bothered. Which is hardly ever.

Use the hard wiring from the Zumo to the Autocom, then bluetooth the phone to the Zumo. All works fine. Make sure you have the plugs in the right ports on the Autocom. That can make a big difference.

Hi Roodoo,

It is a shame that you don't tell us whether you have a pre-2009 Super Pro Avi or the later Super Pro Remote because they are quite different beasties from the aspect of hard-wiring.

I have hard-wired both and never had a problem, but I do use in-ear monitors most of the time.

The problem is that there is one bluetooth module that has to suit both Autocom and Starcom (only the label is different) but the amplification performance of both devices is apparently different. Hence the attempt by Chainspeed to update the firmware for you in order to suit your unit - I can assure you that you will not find anyone more helpful than them.

Try the hard-wiring approach as it might very well be the solution to your problems. Volume might also depend on the type of earplugs you are wearing.....

It's the current super pro unit in the new black colour and the btm 02a blue tooth module.
Any adds I see for selling the hard wire lead for garmin that will allow phone to work through it says that it will be quieter than than the Bluetooth unit. That's not good,it will be near silent then.

Using just the wee simple lead that came with unit the volume is magic but phone then wont work.

Hi Roodoo,

As I said before I find the volume OK through the hardwire.

Maybe you have a "fallback" position where you
1) Connect the phone through the BT module and plug into AUX2. (I'm defining AUX1 as bike-to-bike, like Autocom do)
2) Hard-wire the Zumo into AUX3 with the wee little lead that you already have.

The phone will have priority over the Sat-Nav, but this is likely not a problem unless you are always on the phone.

If you use the unfiltered lead you might get some gound-loop hum into AUX3 - but you might not notice it.

It's worth a try.....?

John

Cheers John, I will try this

Although its nice having phone through the nav as can see who is phoning

If I am plugged into aux1 I get mega volume no matter what I plug in. If nav is in aux 1 hard wired its magic if then move it to any other aux volume is quite low. If plug Bluetooth module into aux1 volume is magic but then plugged into any other aux it's pretty much useless. My issue is i can only ever end up with good volume at one thing. Any help gratefully received

If I plug Bluetooth module into aux1 and then pair nav and then phone to nav the volume is good but other caller can't here me for interference. Any help will be really appreciated

You have to go one step at a time to find out where the chain is braking.

1) Pair the phone to BT in Aux1, do you get interference? Does the interference change if the engine is on or off?
2) Pair the Nav to Aux1, do you get interference on audio. Does the interference change if the engine is on or off?
3) Pair Nav to BT and phone to Nav. Does the interference change if the engine is on or off?

No interference if just phone bluetoothed into aux1 on its own. Must be something to do with running phone threw garmin660. Phone is a I phone5. No interference with nav bluetoothed into aux1. It's only the person on other end of call that can't here me great when it's threw the nav. Think I will keep phone bluetoothed into aux1 and hard wire nav into aux2 and make do with it. Wishing now went down the scala route

I went scala G9 route. I use zumo 550 and E71 phone. The scala route doesn't work if phone bluetoothed to zumo and zumo bluetoothed to scala. It all appears to pair correctly but as soon as you make/receive a phone call it goes wrong! It sometimes works for the phone call but afterwards the pairing disconnects and wont re-connect until all switched off! I end up with phone bluetoothed to g9 so can use mp3/phone calls etc but don't have the zumo! I bought the g9 to replace old type autocom super pro. I do prefer the wireless g9 though.

From my own recent experience make sure the Zumo firmware is at the latest release, namely 4.90.
