Used to have a Starcom1, now i have an Autocom 200. The tour x has quite a large recess for your lobes, hence the speakers sit back a little.

Never had a problem with the starcom (i conclude that the starcom is a louder unit) with the volume turned to max on the unit and my mp3 player turned up to max (using earplugs). The autocom just doesnt seem as loud, speakers are in identical positions same settings on mp3 player etc etc....

Anyone else found this with a tour x? Anyone fixed it? My mp3 player can stand up to max volume all day long as i can power it from the bike, but can the speakers?

Considering it says on the tin easily audible with or without earplugs im a bit stuck as to how to get a better sound, apart from removing earplugs and suffering wind noise pain.

Anyone used the spacers autocom do?

Any ideas? anyone? anyone?

Anyone from autocom wanna comment?

I or we have fitted many Tour X's and have never received any problems with low volumes via our systems for speech levels or even music. The only problems we do come across is where no open face conversion kits are fitted (Part 1198 £2) as due to the design of the helmets a little bit more wind and engine noise can hit the mics. Low volumes are only normally caused through where the speakers are fitted inside the helmet as this is very critical for volume levels.

As for the speaker spacers we have never fitted any the Tour X's as they are not needed we only tend to fit them onto the open face Arai's as the ear recesses are very deep and the speakers would sit around half an inch away from our customers ears.

Autocom, Starcom and Intaride Evo

:blagblah I'm looking to buy a mobile set to be placed in a tank bag as I have two bikes and don't want to fork out for two systems.

I have:
- Two motorcycles (SV650 for heavy traffic and M800 for touring)
- Cargo (expandable) Tank bag
- Both have Optimate weather proof power plugs and accessory sockets I plug in when in use.
- Bike to bike (I have Midland radios)
- Mio PDA 550 Sat Nav (TOM TOM) with Bluetooth dongle that converts
analogue to bluetooth it works great with my Viper bluetooth helmet.
- Samsung P2 music which also has bluetooth and also works well with my bluetooth helmet but of course not at the same time as using the Sat Nav.

I sure wish you wizzy technicians would find a wireless solution for all this, wires on motorbikes are a pain in the ar**, but I guess its wires for now.

I want:
- In ear headsets with mic suitable for both open or closed face with different sized buds. (I'm small he's V tall, will enable lower volume, blocks engine noise and better sound quality for the music)
- To use PDA for Sat Nav, P2 for Music and Midland Radios for bike to bike.
- Ideally the unit should also have 2 USB power sources (I don't think any of you, have done that yet and that's an easy quick win. users can power many Sat Navs and MP3 players)

If anyone can supply a list of what I need and costs I'd be grateful :bounce1

Many thanks
Heidi
