Right then,

I've read a few threads telling me not to hard wire my AutoCom into the brake light on my 1100GS with ABS. However when I contacted AutoCom, they recommended wiring into the rear brake light wiring. Does anyone have any experience of wiring an AutoCom onto an 1100GS with ABS, to give me the definative answer ??
Cheers,
Andy

I`ve connected a few Autocoms to 1150`s and used the switched feed to the flasher relay, which is a green/blue wire.
The flasher relay is easily unclipped from within the fusebox for access, then I just splice to the wire and solder the connection.
This is what Autocom recommend, and it works.

I can`t be arsed looking at my 1100`s to see if the wire colours are the same
but they probably are...and even if the colours do differ,I`d still use that point as a connection.

I wired my Autocom into the back light of a 2000 GS1150 with ABS, which I believe is the same as the 1100. I think the wire is grey and black, and can be found in the loom at the rear right hand side as it runs along the sub frame. I had no problems at all.

Autocom only recommend wiring to the back light for one reason ... you would fit it in the rear tail piece on most Jap bikes and the rear brake light is the nearest thing to take power from and you can turn it off by turning the lights off ... we never fit stuff to the back light on any BMW as its not the nearest place/can mess with the ABS and more often than not you can't turn the lights off...

Anywhere but is my opinion...

Hence the recommended splicing into the switched feed to the flasher relay as in the Autocom instructions for the 1150.....
