Should I:

  • Hardwire the Zumo to the Autocom + Bluetooth the phone to the Autocom? ... or
  • Bluetooth the Zumo to Autocom + Bluetooth phone to Zumo?

What are the merits/demerits of either?

question - which zumo is it 550 or 660

If 550 then

Hardwire the Zumo to the Autocom + Bluetooth the phone to the Autocom

you can listen to the mp3 player in full stereo but will need to run wires through the bike

If you bluetooth the zumo to autocom then music will be in mono.

Also will need bluetooth module - expense and location problems

wires will need suppressors

If 660 then
Hardwire the Zumo to the Autocom + Bluetooth the phone to the Autocom...

need to run wires through the bike - with suppresors but will not need the expense of a stereo bluetooth module

The Zumo is a 660.

I've ordered the new Autocom Stereo Bluetooth dongle.

The way I see it is that if I hardwire the Zumo to the Autocom, I get better quality music etc. But, if I do that, I can't hook up the microphone to make the phone work unless the phone is connected to the Autocom by Bluetooth (via the Zumo if necessary).

If I Bluetooth the phone to the Autocom, I have to set the phone to auto-answer whereas if I go via the Zumo, I can use the Zumo to control the phone.

100% correct. You need to hard wire the zumo to autocom for stereo music and bluetooth zumo to autocom and bluetooth phone to zumo.:thumb2

which autocom

Gsrich said in this post that a Bluetooth was not required for the Automatic

Bill, the BT module will not be needed as the Part 2190's work more than fine with the Zumos and how the Super Pro AUTO is designed. The Super Pro AVi would of needed the BT side due to how the AUX sockets were designed.

TBH when we had Zumo issues along with the Super Pro AUTO's 99% of the problems were down to the Zumo's as a quick test we did was to use one of our Zumo's

That's why I put mine up for sale
