I have a Nav V in a 660 base mount that is wired to the battery via a Nippy Normans Fusebloc and not the aux socket under the speedo.

Fusebloc has its switched ignition on supply taken from the aux power socket under the seat

When I turn the key to start the bike up the Nav V switches on when I turn the ignition key........my 660 didn't do this.

So my question is,
is there a setting in the Nav V somewhere to disable this auto switch on arrangement when it see's power.....Im buggered if I can find it if there is one?

I don't think there is.

On my 1600 I can though use the iWheel to turn the GPS device's screen off permanently, meaning that I have to turn the device on each time, again using the iWheel.

auto switch on disable

Bugger!

Thanks Richard

The issue I'm having is that I have got in the habit of plugging in my genuine BMW Canbus battery charger into the power socket on the left under the seat.

I go through the procedure to ensure the charger talks to the ECU via the socket to keep the socket active so the charger will do its job etc

I then switch everything off leaving the charger happily charging the battery

But when I come to the bike the next day I find the Nav V has switched itself on over night.

I know whats happening.

As the charger talks to the ECU via the canbus to keep the socket active. the ECU is switching the socket supply on which then fires up the relay in the fuesbloc which then provides power to the Nav V

which then means that the charger is effectively permanently powering the Nav V over night.

Ditch the BMW charger and sell it here.

Install Optimate or similar, connected directly to the battery. Problem solved.

One reason why the Nav V may be set to automatically switch on with the ignition is that when the Nav V is in the cradle of the GS LC you cannot get at the on/off switch which is on the back plate of the Nav V.

Nah!

I think I need to find a different switched supply trigger for the fusebloc other than the socket that should cure it if there is no auto on disable to be found within the Nav V

Has anyone any suggestions on a suitable alternative ignition on only supply trigger I can tap into which wont upset the canbus?

failing that, start taking it out of its mount and take it in the house with me
:D

I am also wondering if getting PDM60 and fitting that instead of the fusebloc. may be the answer?
