Just got a deal on some fog lights on ebay. I want to use an Autoswitch (as6b) to use the indicator cancel button to turn the lights on/off. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you then have to get the ECU reprogrammed to recognise the switch/lights. Can anyone tell me if this is true and is it a big job if it is true. Cheers, Smudger

Be careful before putting that on as mine (As6b2) has never worked, lights switch off after 1/2 mins max. They only work while riding on the motorway at constant speed. Apparently there is a compatibility issue with the CAN-BUS. I'd put a standard on/off switch if I were you.

My autoswitch works fine ('06 GS) with my Hella spots, I don't think you'll have any issues as long as its wired right. Not sure how the newer bikes work though

Autoswitch problems

Any bike fitted with HID lights is susceptible to self cancelling of the autoswitch.
No particuar make. One switches on the lights via autoswitch, & they turn off again.
If you are not fitting HIDs they work ok.
See my posts ont he subject. (almost 2 years ago)

Than.ks for the replies guys, I,m not fitting HID lights so think I'll give it a go at the weekend, no harm in trying, long as no permanent damage done then nothing lost. At least it will keep me out of the pub for a few hours.:beerjug:
