Gents, i plan to mount a light bar on the forks of my LC using Black Dog Cycle Works brackets and a PIAA loom c/w switch/relay etc. i need advice on running the loom cables from the front of the bike to the battery.

my question is this - is it possible to tease the cables through or will i need to lift off the air box or tank or both? if anyone has performed a similar task, i would be grateful for any info. thanks.

I ran the wires from the battery area (for my aux lights) on the RHS under the main cover panel. There appears to be a plastic duct, containing wires) it terminates up near the head stock, then following the body work to the top of the beak.

nice one, thanks SMB

SMB i assume you hooked up your aux lights via a relay. is that switched independently or, did you find a 'trigger' from the 'main beam'? is that possible with the CAN bus system. this is my first experience of it!

Yes, I used a ignition live only as a trigger.

I believe that you can find this by tapping into the wires from the 7.5A fuse underneath the seat. Though I did use the rear light. However I used a small DIL relay to trigger the main relay, this does not upset the canbus.

I also built in a system to switch the lights off while the starter was being used. This is because BM have used an even smaller battery for the LC than previous GSs. I wanted to keep the load off the battery while it was being used to start the bike, I bet though this would only benefit the battery when it's on its way out.

If you want any more info on my system, let me know and we can talk off line. Can't PM you as you are not a subscriber, only £12 a year.
