Auxiliary Light Switch

Hey up Windy. I got a little relay box gizmo (cant remember what it was actually called?) from Nippy Normans. It's about the size of a matchbox, but only half the thickness, you wire it into the ECU and when you press and hold the indicator cancel button for more than 0.8 of a second, it turns on the aux lights. Press and hold it again and it turns them off! Simple's..!
Think I paid about £20 for it. Works great and no need for more switches.

Almost forgot, it comes with a little LED that glows red when the lights are off and green when on. I mounted this on top edge of the clocks with a little dab of clear silicone.

I made one for front and rear fogs.

I bought one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98092

And cut a hole in one of these boxes http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=1751#specifi - I think it was the GU61R box.

I painted it hammerite black, fitted a couple of LEDs as indicators, and mounted it using a handlebar bicycle mount. The cable is exterior ethernet cable I had laying around - I don't need the current, as they're only switching a relay.

Job, jobbed. All in, it was less than a tenner and the switch is nice and chunky so using it with winter gloves is no problem.

I believe Les can supply these

Although I got mine from a supplier that no longer seems to have them on their website (www.forthgear.co.uk)
Cost was about £15 and it comes with a couple of foot of attached wire terminated in banana plugs

I used the standard Hella illuminating switch that came with my MicroDE lights, welded myself a switch bracket that fits onto the mirror stem base and sealed the wiring with amalgamating tape and cotton loom tape. It's only controlling a 12V relay after all.

Never had a problem in any weather.

i bought the above mentioned on/off switch from les wassell some 3 years ago. it has been on the bike ever since in all weathers switching my aux lights so i would say it is well up to the job
excellent buy
:beerjug:

I also bought mine from Les, but, if Les is ever out of stock:augie
your local Yamaha dealer has the same switch used on one of the
off road bikes. BUT £30:blast

... PIAA do a waterproof switch with LED indicator, that can be stuck by the instrument cluster. (Photo's a bit duff, but you get the idea)

... About £20 from Nippy's
