AVG Help urgently needed

I have been running AVG for about 10 months now thanks to the advice on here and it has been working a treat.

I have got a problem at the minute though as this week it is having problems downloading the updates.
It starts ok but then I get the Windows message stating there is a problem with the downloader and it will have to close.

I know there is an important update waiting to be downloaded and wondered if anyone else was having trouble?

The small chequered box in the bottom right of the screen is grey and black because it is not up to date.

Have I got to uninstall and reinstall?

Any help gratefully received.

I believe that they're updating from 7.5 to 8.0 at the moment. It may be that the update process failed when this was happening meaning that the version you've got is broken. I'd do a fresh download and then uninstall / install new version.
 
Is it the Anti-Spyware ? If so double click on the icon in the tray (bottom right) and click for manual update. I think the free one doesn't automatically check for updates.

If it's the Anti-Virus, same again and check for updates button.

It might be your Firewall that's blocking it, check that updating and internet access is enabled for your AVG program.

As previously suggested above, you can do a fresh download and see if that works.

I had the same for a while last year, can't remember doing anythin - it came good on its own.

Had the same problem with the free AVG A/V last month. Occasionally the update process gets flaky and won't seem to self-fix, so it's probably better to remove and reload it, which is what I did.

Not sure what I used to do before we had on tap IT support!
Uninstalled and reinstalled and working ok now.
Full virus check says everythings ok too so I'm a happy bunny again. :clap
