I am running AVG free on my laptop with no problem.
Folks have just bought a pc but haven't got internet access yet but want antivirus before they are on line.

Is it possible to download the AVG install with my laptop at home, drop it on a memory stick and install on their pc?

Probably a stupid question so apologies and thanks for the help.

Andy

Yes it is.

You'll also need the latest virus definiton files as well, which can be downloaded and applied when you install AVG on the laptop- they're obviously on the AVG site.

Not a major risk to be without them as long as it's then updated when first online, but worth grabbing anyway :)

To get the executable version of AVG just select the option to 'save as' rather than 'run' :)

Just make sure the 1st job of commisioning the online connection is setting up updates and making sure all are upto date. it wont be a massive risk of being infected of you do all this before surfing for "real"
Note even a brand new laptop is usually a fair few patches out of date so its worthwhile getting those on 1st as its these vulnerabilities that spammers and viruses try to take advantage of.
Note a relatives new laptop needed to download around 500mb of patches to a "box fresh" vista build before it was patched uptodate.

if you have your own ADSL router you can do this on your network before shipping to the folks.
