Awesome Riding Gear you did not know about!

Why oh why are folk on this site so negative all the time. If you have a question about a product why not just ask it in a polite and reasonable manner rather than assuming the seller / vendor must be a crook intent on ripping off everyone. If new members are treated in this way I wouldn't blame them for thinking 'up yours' and buggering off somewhere else where they will be dealt with respect. Not exactly the way to grow a 'GS' community? Rant over

actually - it is upon the customer request that we can declare the package as how they like. it is the customer who owes the import duties and can request the package to be labelled in a particular way.

secondly, all the armor we use is CE approved with appropriate labels and certification on the armor pieces. Additionally, for our high-end suits we use armor from Sas-Tec (imported from Germany) and you can pull up all the CE data directly from their site as well.

Who did the CE certification, to which standards and what's their notified body registration number in Nando?

:pullface You pay your money and take your choice - but 'cheap' gear is exactly that in my experience - cheap! Do you want to ride around in cheap bike gear , you go right ahead but I'd like to know more about what I am buying because my life is important to me....

I don't think you got my point. I don't have a problem with you asking questions about the gear but it's your attitude that hit my buttons. Treat folk as you would like to be treated, manners are free etc etc. Of course you may have a different approach in life in which case you're not someone I would wish to spend any time with.

Never mind I never fancied visiting Redhill anyway. :comfort

The fact is the vendor is offering to help 'by pass' the import duties so my question is perfectly valid in wondering what else they may not mind 'by passing' on to sell their stuff. After all the regulations aren't for everyone are they...? And, es it is intended as a warning to anyone thinking of buying' cheap' safety equipment over the web. There's plenty available if you want it - most made in China and other non-EU countries. Good luck if you choose to buy it.

why bother when you can obviously get plenty of free advertising without :blast

I thought you had to be a subscriber to post in the vendors section? :nenau

Gotta agree with that...what's happening here is against the rules.

It's irrelevant now, 'cos he HAS subscribed.

He didn't need to though....this is EXACTLY what the vendor's section is for.

Why on earth did you think it was against the rules? :nenau

Spamming it would be (IE posting it on multiple threads rather than on one vendor thread) or posting it on other sections would be, but here in the vendor's section?

Right place :thumb2

As you were

i'll bet most of your 'safety' gear was made in China, or some other non EU country anyway :blast

Have a check in your labels etc, check out the ECU on your bike, the switch gear etc. Have a close look and you maybe surprised.

Shoei,Arai ... best name in helmets? Japanese - Maybe not Chinese but certainly non EU

Aerostitch ..good ol Merikan , Non EU ... but maybe the fabric was made on a loom in some backstreet sweatshop in China, Malaya,Singapore ..

BMW suits / clothing / gloves .... No idea, but it won't be Germany

So to sum up, you'll be buying yourself some of this gear then :clap

With any of the gear like Shoei, Arai, BMW etc its possible know to what standard the gear has been tested and it can be verified that it has been actually been tested. That's the whole point of the CE marking system.

If this American bike gear is anything like half as good as the cars they build over there it should be just fine:P

My wife recently spent £80 on a Magimix Kettle, supposed the best on the market as reflected by the cost of the dam thing. Already on the 3rd replacement. Goes to show cost does not equal quality.
The cheap kettle it replaced never went wrong, had been used for years and may be pulled out of the loft soon (if I'm brave enough)!

It doesn't matter to teizms any more because he has subscribed, but I don't think that it's as clear as you say. I was involved in that part of thread as well, so here's my 2p'orth.

In hindsight, I was not in a good mood when I posted above so I'm glad that teizms took it on the chin and I do wish him all the best. However, I think that it is only polite for vendors to contribute at least something to the running of the website as they are effectively getting free advertising. Unlike the UKGSer discounts area, this is area is visible to everyone on the internet, so it is going to get more hits and traffic, what's wrong with paying for some of that bandwidth?

I also think that we should lighten up about the way that some of the ongoing questions are being asked - if this is teizms's first foray into EU sales, there are important issues that, if solved, could benefit us all as long as the price is right, by bringing in another competitor to Aerostich and Olympia.

some peeps just get a kick out of having something to gripe about:D

absolutely , the fact is most of the gear we buy is ridiculously over priced if Teizms can bring us a comparatively quality product at a fraction of the price of his competition then bring it on . if the product dont live up to expectations then boy this is the place that will have the peeps to shout about it:P

Yep .. Halvarssons is my choice

CE tested and marked ....but that is only the 'armour' bits. The rest of it could be made of cheese because the actual jacket/trouser/glove bit is not tested.
CE ONLY applies to the 'armour'

Just because you pay mega prices for gear, it doesn't necessarily mean its the best / better than any of the other stuff. The SHARP helmet rating system will prove this to a certain degree. Pay £6-700 for a suit and see how well it protects you if you manage to hit a piece of street furniture at 40mph or more.

A bit of padding on your elbow/shoulder/knees or arse will not protect your soft internal vital organs whether its CE marked or not.

Hi Teizms,
Is there anywhere I can see the various suits it all the different colour options? For example the Lombard in HiViz Yellow. It would be of help to folk like me who are interested but would like to see first a picture of what they are considering ordering.
Cheers
Mark

You're right, and I do agree.

That's why it quite pointedly says, in the rules for that section, that companies inevitably get more credibility by being sponsors :thumb2

Fly by nights don't last long here, but those who float an idea, get some response and then subscribe can do well........on the other hand, there have been numerous one man band startups with shit ideas who have come over all arrogant and have disappeared

The only reason I piped up on it was because he was being accused of breaking the rules- I was part of setting those rules up but I'm now a free agent who can express an opinion without being sent to the boilerhouse to work the engines on the yacht under that nutter Lucy's patent leather jackboot :green gri

Mods....damned if they do, damned if they don't :augie

With any of the gear like Shoei, Arai, BMW etc its possible know only that they've sewn a CE label into the item. That's the whole point of the CE marking system....to monopolize and regulate their own market in order to make more money.

Heavily fixed to reflect reality :thumb2

We have started work on a new suit with Euro weather in mind :)

Please let us know what features you would like to see in the suit.

Talk about a thread getting Hijacked.....

From the photos these suits looks very good although to answer yuor question on feedbnack as to what I would like I would definately say a waterproof outer layer. I cant understand why a water proof liners if offered on any suit:nenau

I have a Rukka 2 piece Suit and its 100% waterproof so far with no liners. I also have an Olympia Phantom 1 piece suit which look 95% the same as these suits with the exception that the Olympia suit is waterproof on the outside. It does have a Zip out thermal liner. The Olympia suit is a fantastic bit of gear although I dont think it would offer alot of protection in a crash (nor would my Rukka however I dont want to test it). The Olympia suit has only ever let water in once at a zip I hadn't closed properly so my fault.

Plus points for me are the suits look REALLY nice and not plain old boring black. I think as soon as someone buys one and can give feedback on the comfort and waterproofing you have a winner there as they loook really nice.

Best of luck with your sales. Lets hope the £ stays strong against the $ :thumb
