Hi all,
How well my bike rides, I just couldn't get used to the ugly beak of my R1100GS. Luckily there's someone out there who thinks the same and has the talent to do something about it. Enter the B-beak.
This is a new beak for the R1100GS that resembles the looks of the 1150GS's beak, (because the original beak from an 1150GS does not fit an 1100...
). This beak is made by B-art, who can be contacted at "vdbogaard AT b-art.etrade.nl".
Anyway, I went to B-art the other day, to make the beak fit. Which basically consists of making the holes fit the subframe. This is not a hard job, it just takes a little time making the holes line up. To have a nice fit for your blinkers for example. From what I saw and heard this is mainly because not all bikes are exactly alike (and some people prefer smaller blinkers, or position them somewhere else). Some have been dropped in their life, and maybe there was some room for minor variances in production? Remember that this beak is not a straight bolt-on accessory, it needs a little finishing. Anyone with a few files and sandpaper in the shop can make this beak a nice fit. Like a bodyshop for example.
I had it painted by Roland Meerman, a Dutch "motopainter". After I picked it up I put it on my bike, and here's how it looks. Please notice by the way the chopped-off screen. So far the best way to deal with buffeting.

I personally like these looks more that those of an 1150GS. It's more sleek I guess.
