Dear All

Just got back from a 3500 mile trip round Europe on my 2007 1200GS. Great trip but two problems. A sore arse and sore shoulders and neck.

After doing my research on the Board I concluded with some trepidation that I would splash out on a Sargent low seat and am hoping to take delivery at the end of September. Lets hope it works.

Now to the shoulders. I feel like I am struggling very slightly to reach the bars and am sure that I am gripping (perhaps as a consequence of the reach issue) too tightly.

Do I need a set of bar risers or am I jumping to conclusions?

I am 5'8" and am using a standard seat on the low setting. I am relatively short in the arm ( I always have to get my shirt sleeves shortened).

If its not bar risers I need what do people suggest to alleviate the problem?

If it is bar risers would the Migsel £25 ish jobs be what I need or do I need to go for the £70 ish up and back Nippy Norman jobs?

Just on the off chance is there anyone near Cambridge who could lend me some Bar risers?

Does anyone have any for sale?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I would like to get this issue sorted before my seat arrives so as not to confuse the two issues.

Thanks in advance.

You say that you have a bit of a stretch to reach the bars? I would suggest that before you buy "up & back" risers that you simply try tilting the bars back a wee bit towards you. At the very least this will not cost anything and may well work. :)

Tilting them might help.........but I', not surprised if you had sore neck and a seat after 3.5k!

The low seat might not actually help - it's the same thing, but with less padding and you might feel a bit scrunched up too.

I also have short arms and am a similar height to yourself and have tried standard bar risers, wunderlich vario risers, nippy normans as well as playing with the bar angle. Trust me - the NN are the only solution :thumb2
