Due to poor health, I've not ridden this for longer than I care to remember.

However, on Tuesday I had a wee ride oot , doon tae Kagyu Samye Ling, Langholm, Moffat via Paddock Hole and then back tae Fife on the Devil's Beeftub road.

I was accompanied by some of the best new riding companions ever - Natalie Rogers and her husband Eric Rogers; two folks with whom I'd feel confident going anywhere at any time.
They were over here from California, riding a V-Strom and SV650 rented from Cupar Motorcycles, after they'd spent the best part of a week on the IOM at the TT.

It was a great 220 mile day, mostly on goaty roads, in temperatures up to 30 deg C.

That's half way....See you soon down in Englandshire ......?

Thanks Mike. You never know but I'd have to ride through that scary England place with all that traffic and people and other stuff.....😳

It's over 12 years since I last did that crazy shit....

good story mate,i too was on that road from langholm the other day up past the monestary (i have never seen such big pot holes)we then came back down via moffat and gretna, and back over to co durham .

During the pandemic we did a few days up to that neck of the woods and stayed in Langholm for a couple of nights . We did a run back from Peebles to Langholm quite late in the day on a Saturday afternoon evening , the roads were great fun . Fast , twisty , challenging buy very quiet , and we were “on it” …one of the best runs I’ve ever done ….whizzed past the Monastery but no time to stop .

Eskdale Hotel or Crown Hotel...? I grew up there many, many years ago. I escaped to Edinburgh University when I was 18. Phew.....😅

Went through Langholm yesterday and past Samye Ling’s
The rain was biblical & so were the logging trucks
The potholes on the 709 are no better, but at least the puddles gave them marker points!
Welcome back Schtum

The Crown I think …the dining room was design to make you think you were outside.

I haven't been in there for years. I'd forgotten about the décor. These days I usually stay in the Eskdale.

That’s the one Mike ….. interesting decor for sure. We wondered how long it had been like that. Staff were good and it was great value . I just clicked on your link too, lovely place you have there! Enjoy the biking season now you are back in the saddle 👍

Excellent - same colour scheme as my bike, shame about the weird top-box thingy :)

Function dear boy. Function. If you're going to have a top box, it needs to be mounted within the bike's wheelbase so that it doesn't interfere with the handling both in terms of weight distribution and aerodynamics.
