Hi folks

Not been on here for some time now, work & off road bike commitments - but now retirement looms - 30th April :beerjug: so time to get Bertha back on the road.

05 non ABS bike with 22500 miles on the clock but only about 3k of those over the last three years.

Each of the last two years (since warranty expired) I've done the following:

Removed wheels & calipers to clean brake pistons thoroughly
Changed oil filter, engine oil, gearbox oil, FD oil
Cleaned K&N
Adjusted valves (but need some new Wurth gauges - anyone on here selling them?)
Also changed all spark plugs last spring

I've got a vac guage to do the injector ballancing but have yet to use it, but looks straighforward enough.

I know its overdue a brake & clutch fluid change - so I will do that.

The tyres are good, done about 3k miles & were the then new Conti Trail Attacks, about three years old - will they still be safe :nenau

Both shocks are Ohlins which were rebuilt at about 20k miles, do they eventually lose gas :nenau

Is the generator belt likely to be hardened / perished :nenau

Is there anything else I should look out for? Bike has always been garaged & is immaculate.

Last but not least just re-subscribed so should be a bona fide tosser soon:D

Any help gratefully received.

Ade

Tyres- I'd over inflate them to see if any cracks appear and give them a good look over, if no cracks and all looks good, set correct pressure's and use them, the surface layer of rubber may have gone a bit hard/shiney so I'd treat them as new tyres for the first 100miles after that use as normal

Alternator belt- I'd propably change for piece of mind if nothing else.

An enjoy yir retirement :)

I dont think Ohlins contained gas...just make sure they dont leak.
Alternator belts should be changed every 36K miles.Check it for tension/cracks/fraying-change it if you find a problem.
Fuel filter is due at 24K so might be best to drain the tank of old fuel and do it now.
Paralever/wheel bearings check would be good.

Yes they do, mixture of oil and gas, as indeed are most ( though not all ) damper units

I'd change all fluids and filters and the belt, and give everything else a good inspection for wear and replace as required. ( bearings, brakes, cables, hoses etc etc. )
