Bumpy yer correct.
I called around various dealers this morning and finally a guy at Vines talked to me about the symptoms. He reckoned that it was most likely one of the primary coils breaking down under load. He said the secondary coils wouldn't affect it like that if they were duff. I went up to Bahnstormers and £55 quid later I have the part and head home, takes two minutes to swap but the first coil made no difference so tried the other and BINGO.
Still can't figure out though how it costs £55 for what is basically a plug cap wi a coil inside, but it's probably cheaper than an hour of a main dealer's labour, so worth it in the end.
