Just occasionally, for no obvious reason, My PC has lost all my log on user names and passwords for my various email acconts in Outlook.

I'm also not entirely sure that I am backing up all my Outlook information, and folders, as I'm not completely sure where those files are kept? Are they all held within the file 'mailbox.pst'

Some guidance please you boffins!

thanks

Will

Also do a search for any other *.pst files and save those too.

Also depending on how its set up save *.ost and *.pab files.

You can always export your address book to *.CSV and keep it as a excel sheet too. I find this useful quite often export it tided it up in excel and then import it back in.

If you find PST files complicated ...

You can always create a directory structure on your hard drive that replicates your folders in outlook. Then Drag and Drop the mail messages into those folders.

I have used this method to backup my mail messages onto CDs. It is not as neat as PST files, but works.

Just an alternative.

more please

But where do I drag and drop from? My Outlook folders are'nt shown in Windows explorer for example are they?

Sorry to be dim, but could you give me a more detailed explanation please, and can someone confirm where my Passwords/usernames for Outlook mail accounts are kept, so that I know I am backing them up too.

thanks

Will
