Moaned about this before - difficulty in making jerk free gear changes. Thought it might be the bike but also could be my riding skills. Anyway, I found side to side play on the rear wheel so I sent the bevel box off to mikeyboy for repair. Just put it back in the bike now and both the play and the bad gear changes are gone. Can only assume that play in the pinion bearing was allowing the crownwheel and pinion to come party out of mesh. So all is right in the world and I like my bike again.

Well done to BMW! 11000 miles and needing a new bearing set. Simply isnt good enough and chatting to other bikers at a meet today, they were all aware of BMW quality issues.
