do you think we should have a bad news section ,in the gs12 section thats only available to subscibers ,i know of two folk that have bought other bikes vstroms as it happens ,because of reading this ukgser.
i understand thats the gs has a few issues ,but folk coming from jap stuff would be scared shitless reading some of the posts on here .
what do you think .
so looking forward to your replys.:thumb2

Nope....................if there's a problem, don't hide it

Damned and be damned:thumb

Absolutely not and if you read other single make forums you will get the same reports of major problems from the disgruntled few.

Sort of a good idea

I dedicated section probally not as that would put all the negatives together without all the good pionts. I would be interested to know how many people who have had problems but then sold and bought another make because of their experience. It seems to me there are very many people who use these type of forums to vent all sorts of anger but continue to own and ride a BMW.
I have had 4 1200 Gs's and one 650 GS and not had a single problem with any of them. :rob

Best to share I say ,BMW need to know the opinions of its customers as i'm sure they read bits and if they don't f*** em.

Perhaps if we had 3500mile service intervals like the Vstrom then we would be reliable too:D:D:D

People willl believe what they want to, anyone who sees this as a true reflection on ownership should check how many memers there are on here compared to how many bikes sold.
Ive had several 1200's and had some issues but, unlike some other companies Ive bought from, these have all been resolved speedily and courteously under warranty.

If they were thin skinned enough to be put off to the point that they went and bought a strom, they wouldn't last 5 minutes here anyway, so it was probably a good result anyway :thumb

In the numbers that bikes are sold I am sure every manufacture has its problems.
There are no figures for say final drive failures to the amount of bikes sold, so ok a few on here have had that problem. how many people go looking for a forum once they have a problem aswell.

To me, ride the bloody thing, you have a problem deal with it, simples

Well said. What a sensible chap:D

What is they say?

If you have had good service and are happy with the product you have bought you tell 5 people. If you have had bad service or a problem with your product you tell EVERYONE.

It is about managing expectations. The dash rattled in my wife's KA, I half expected it to. The dash started rattling on my Golf and I was really p***ed off.
If you have a Suzuki you are just happy when the engine starts and the wheel turn. :augie

Good news

I have been a member of this forum for around 10 years or more. It seems to me that people are becoming more and more obsessed by the negatives, which I know there are some.I have owned an 1150gs and an 04,06,08,2010 and 2012 1200gs with very little issues particularly 08 onwards covering around 150,000 miles in the process the GS has only let me down once for a fuel pump controller on 2004 bike.

I look at it this way if things are so bad SELL IT!!!!!

Personally on the whole I think the GS is a brilliant bike and nothing in life is perfect.

oh i hear you loud and clear regarding the bike ,i totally agree,i am also happy with my 05 bike with no real issues to talk off.love it.
but the point i was making do we really want others to get the wrong idea of the bike.especially when they themselfs may not own a gs ,and are just scouting around for info for a patential purchase.
