Ok so I've been riding my F650 since January with no problems. Mostly commuting to and from London (35 miles a day) and a mix of town and motorway. Done around 1,500 miles so far and lots of :D

Had a week off before Easter (DIY holiday :blast) and didn't touch the bike for over a week. Back to work last week and I can barely manage the 40 minute commute before my right hand is numb with pins and needles, I assume from the bike vibrations :(

Really don't know what's going on. I swear I haven't changed anything on the bike, and have checked around for the obvious lose bolts (bar end weights were the first thing I checked). I've also tried riding with a really lose grip on the bars and no difference.

Anybody have any bright ideas as to what might be causing this? It's only my right hand which makes me think either a) I've now got a lopsided bike :toungincheek or b) I've somehow knackered my hand from DIY (although it's not like I was using vibrating power tools, so not quite sure how that might have happened!).

Any thoughts more than welcome! Ta

Its most probably the chain mate. They are fitted with a very cheap chain from new. Mine's the same. Not much you can do other than bin the chain early and fit a better one.

Cheers,

Dave

I undestood the chains were on the cheap side, but would they really make that much difference? I'll check out how much slack it's showing though - hadn't thought that might cause the vibes.

Its suprising but mine does the same. If you check out the links section there's plenty of info about it. Shame they didn't fit a better chain. Than the would have built the perfect bike:)

If your chains that knackered you should be able to get one under warranty. If your clever you might be able to up grade to a heavy duty chain! :)

Good luck!

Cheers. I'd seen stuff on the chains before and have just re-read the whole chain thread. I shall be having a damn good look over my chain before riding home this evening!!

I've had something similar ever since I got mine. Smooth enough, but my right hand hurts after an hour or two. I fitted 1200Gs handguards, and noticed that the 1200 has longer bar end bolts. Try fitting one of these, it made a difference to mine (albeit small).

I've had an aching wrist since owning mine, not sure if its gripping the throttle too tight, putting too much weight forward on handle bars or what. I do know it bloody aches today after 4-5 hours riding yesterday.....

Thought aching wrist would have gone when SWMBO came on the scene :augie :D

SWMBO doesn't have to be obeyed until your married. And anyone can tell you that wedding cake is the only food known to kill a woman's sexual desire. So, No, the aching wrist won't go now SWMBO is on the scene.

Thanks for the enlightenment V8, just when you think things are getting better :(

LOL - cheers for the replies.

Should have added, already have the 800 hardguards fitted. What's puzzling me most is that the bike was fine for the first 1,500 odd miles. This hand pain has only started since having a week off from riding!

If you've got the 800 hanguards, they don't require a longer bolt. It might be worth getting a couple of longer 1200 bolts and trying them.

Hi Everyone,

New here from Canada.

I found that the BMW handguards with the lighter bar weights enhanced the vibrations. I went to the Touratech and that made a difference.

It was also recommended to fill the bar with #9 lead shot. The extra weight isn't noticeable but it makes a massive difference for vibration.

Now that my engine is nicely broken in. I've done the above and have a new DID Xring chain and the hand vibes are well in control.

cheers,
Mark
