Sounds like it won't make it to its 6k service without a flatbed (let alone 120k) and EVERYONE (inc Johnny) now knows its a ORS bike so it won't sell :rob

Limited time offer as I have cash wanting to burn a hole in the wallet :rob

I'll take my chances:rolleyes:

sometimes Tom :blast

you need to save that money for our holidays, i'm thirsty

computers

the wonders of the internet amaze me
if a dealers service isn't upto the mark
it isn't long before some forum is told

now car dealers bike dealer or even truck dealers have to be so careful because words goes round so fast

the beauty is the computer is now the quality control

last year on holiday i refused to stay at a pre booked hotel as they stated they had secure bike parking
not when i got there
i lost my money for the night and the manager refused to pay me back
i told her i would post lots of postings to forums and
bang i got my money back
so lets be careful it's a jungle out there:beerjug::mad:

No ta:D I am planning on keeping it, might take you up on your offer for it in 2016 when its got 120k miles on it:beerjug:

Given the bike has found a new long term home from its initial hard life and its obvious your not going back to Bahnstormer, who is your new victim, sorry dealer?

Not sure what your problem is ? I am quite fair with any dealer, the dealer themselves admit it was not good service. I would not have posted anything if they had offered to pick the bike up next day or even day after, but it was going to be a week away, i use the bike every day, so used my BMW breakdown cover to take to my nearest dealer who fixed it next day and delivered back to me, great service and how it should be.:D

I have been running a BMW amonst other bikes for the past 20 years and have probably complained in person 3 times in all those years and posted negative comments just the once, that is what the forum is good for take from it what you will:D

My bike is working fine thanks for asking.

Seemed a tad harsh slagging the Dealer so quickly. Did you call the Manager or BMW first? I'm not sure if you did but you did take a free ad out in the equivalent of the New York Times for BMW GS (note to MODS the subscription fee is fine at the current price). You neglected as your friend did to mention that the bike was a former ORS bike. I assume your posting of your grievance in an open community that you were looking for feedback which I have given.

Yes, the Dealer did respond however to use another example if someone holds a cocked loaded gun to your head and asks for your wallet only a stupid person would say no. As others have responded, The Dealer provides good service. The problem you have seems to be described as intermittent (as you say you drove 10 miles and then kept going home) on a bike that had a very hard life at first. If they had spotted the problem right away why would they have not fixed it? Oh yes I forgot! They wanted to upset you so they could get free word of mouth advertising. Seems to me that you were upset and threw your toys out of the pram. Just my opinion and probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

I'm glad to see the bike has a good home now. All bikes should have a good home. Should you wish to sell the bike a potential buyer has indicated an interest.

NorthLondonCookies - I actually disagree with you stating your opinion on what you felt Frank H did i.e. "Throw your toys out the pram", and to be honest he has every blooming right too! When you buy a BMW and have BMW warranty you expect for issues to be sorted. Otherwise why buy such an expensive bike and expensive warranty. ON the other hand i agree with the fact its an ex off road school bike which doesn't help the matter when things go wrong. But still it has proven how quickly the issue was sorted once he phoned BMW directly instead of waiting around for the said dealer. Away from the matter of his bike i still believe Bahnstormers to be a "good" dealership even though they have some issues.

I think you will find that because the bike was an ex ORS one it was slightly cheaper than normal, that said it came with the remainder of the manufacturers 2 year warranty and the OP called another dealer (not BMW directly) and had the bike recovered to them for repair

I have a mate who had a similar fault with a brand new Triumph Thunderbird Storm. He reported it to the supplying dealer prior to the bike's 600 mile (first) service. When it came back after the service the fault was still there so it had to go back. No fuss, no pannick, no courtesy bike, no moaning on the internet. It got sorted eventually

Part of the Bahnstormer reply puzzles me. Isn't the bike under warranty? If so, why would there be a charge?

Probably because having shit in your linkage is not the manufacturers fault:rolleyes:

Mine suffered the same issue and it's not uncommon so I now regularly have the linkage apart and grease:thumb Take 30 minutes.

Well that has saved me a trip to the dealer to find out the solution:rolleyes:

However I don't think there was any shit in the linkage since bahnstormers had already cleaned and greased it etc, with little effect!! I will let you know the actual problem when I have spoken to the mechanic concerned:D

The other guy who was selling a ORS is not one of my friends and as far as I know nor are any of the other 20 buyers of the ORS 1200 GSs

The problem is hardly intermittent, as soon as I started down changing it occured.

The bike gear change had run without fault for around 1000 miles in my ownership prior to developing the problem

It could be a genuine component failure such as a return spring on the selector mechanism. Shit happens, and even a top dealership like Bahnstormer can't be right all the time with every fault they see.:nenau

Good luck with it, I hope it gets sorted and your faith in the BMW brand is restored via whatever dealer you choose to be a patron of.
