Hello good people.

I don’t want to open a can of worms :hide(I know where to put my tax disc!!!), but I am looking for advice where to position one then possibly two ballasts for HID light, with photos if possible (R1200GS)

I can make the jokes of where to put the ballasts myself :augie

Regards

Stuart

There's one of Les's brackets in the for sale section at the moment.

I had mine on top of the instruments. Used to make the needles go a bit mad now and again. Wouldn't recommend that position.

I have a better solution (sorry Les...he's a stonkin guy and sold me my HID kits for my KTM...however...)

After seeing where the BMW dealer had stuck my ballast (behind the oil radiator, effectively blocking off all air flow FFS!) I asked Cannon (NOT the dealer that fitted it!) to move it before I purchased the bike from them...they did, and they slung it under the oil rad. I didn't think that very satisfactory either (too much weight on the bracket IMHO).

So I positioned it on the .... oh hang on I'll get me camera and take some piccys...

Tax Disc "Holder" - yep, copter tape over the disc, on the side of the airbox. Nothing extra to clean round, out of the way, visable... :blagblah

And to business...

PS I'm not sure there is room for two ballasts in there...but on the KTM I bolted them back to back before mounting them to make a single unit...so maybe?...

Yeah but you are a time traveller and can go back in time to reclaim the lost 40 mins.
