It's been a confusing couple of months, a number of close family have cancer. So I will keep it brief'ish.
I took peoples advice and asked for a larger discount of 75%, bmw warranty honoured my request with an even better deal (80-85%). I still was facing a ball park figure of over two thousand all in, fitting & a hire-bike.
Jesting too Richard from northampton bmw I said 'besides getting the engine sorted I'd be hugely grateful if you had a spare couple or three brake discs going to waste'.
...they have replaced the brake discs on my front-wheel, also a repaired rear caliper leaving me a single brake disc to replace at some-point. The engine had a six mile run put on it before I became one with my beast. The rear sprocket was knackered & has also been replaced, its..erm..more than I could have dreamed for.
The bike has been serviced all over, top too bottom, brake fluids/it needed a new battery (guessing that they have replaced that too). Heading back towards home I treated myself to the first fish&chips in several weeks. Looking over the bike I realized they have done all of this, my heart was pounding. The strain of knowing these things had been sorted out kept me awake a little longer, almost in a restless way of relief & anxiety mixed up.
So much work was needed to my bike that I just felt numb. Knowing I was paying towards a new engine was one problem of many but the bout of work to maintain the parts which were reaching the end of their life-span, just the thought of these things made me flinch. Work had steadily dried up over the weeks leading towards xmas day. The previous weeks were a two day week, the final day of 23rd I reversed slowly into a taxi producing little visible damage but high probability of not been offered work by that company driving a 7.5t freezer lorry. Things have not been good
My final bill which has sent me into my overdraft was £1,700. This should of been 2.5k or full price over £6k.
I cannot write a wistful remark too bestow northampton bmw dealership/bmw warranty department & staff enough grovelling gratitude in words. Though Steve Nash (+ his manager) from northampton bmw were crucial in recovering my mental well-being with a lower than agreed bill.
