It's been a confusing couple of months, a number of close family have cancer. So I will keep it brief'ish.

p2010501.jpg

I took peoples advice and asked for a larger discount of 75%, bmw warranty honoured my request with an even better deal (80-85%). I still was facing a ball park figure of over two thousand all in, fitting & a hire-bike.

Jesting too Richard from northampton bmw I said 'besides getting the engine sorted I'd be hugely grateful if you had a spare couple or three brake discs going to waste'.

...they have replaced the brake discs on my front-wheel, also a repaired rear caliper leaving me a single brake disc to replace at some-point. The engine had a six mile run put on it before I became one with my beast. The rear sprocket was knackered & has also been replaced, its..erm..more than I could have dreamed for.

The bike has been serviced all over, top too bottom, brake fluids/it needed a new battery (guessing that they have replaced that too). Heading back towards home I treated myself to the first fish&chips in several weeks. Looking over the bike I realized they have done all of this, my heart was pounding. The strain of knowing these things had been sorted out kept me awake a little longer, almost in a restless way of relief & anxiety mixed up.

So much work was needed to my bike that I just felt numb. Knowing I was paying towards a new engine was one problem of many but the bout of work to maintain the parts which were reaching the end of their life-span, just the thought of these things made me flinch. Work had steadily dried up over the weeks leading towards xmas day. The previous weeks were a two day week, the final day of 23rd I reversed slowly into a taxi producing little visible damage but high probability of not been offered work by that company driving a 7.5t freezer lorry. Things have not been good

My final bill which has sent me into my overdraft was £1,700. This should of been 2.5k or full price over £6k.

I cannot write a wistful remark too bestow northampton bmw dealership/bmw warranty department & staff enough grovelling gratitude in words. Though Steve Nash (+ his manager) from northampton bmw were crucial in recovering my mental well-being with a lower than agreed bill.

WELL DONE NORTHAMPTON BMW!!!

Hugely glad you're back on the road - and very impressed that BMW have bent over backwards.

well done to the dealership but if bm rolled over and offered more than requested it still rings alarm bells and indicates they know there is a problem.

however if you are heppy thats what counts i guess.

WELL DONE NORTHAMPTON BMW!!!

Worth repeating. :thumb2
Good for you mate.
My only ouch! is for your wallet which obviously will be in intensive care for some time to come. :(
Pleased for you that you've a Bike on the road though.

Big shout too those that responded to my previous thread. Though I apologize for not replying to many questions, I want to look forward now & not recall the past to much.

Wollaston Bmw wriggled and giggled a number of sizable discounts & also zero'd my hire-bike agreement (which would of been £450 minimum). I did not use or mention my families suffering as a means of gaining pity if anyone wondered why I mentioned that.

All in all you have helped/hindered & offered quality advice as usual. The internet is a great tool, long may it live on to share our individual bizarre universe's. :friday

well done mate and well done NORTHAMPTON BMW!!!

sort of restores one's faith in humanity and service again! :thumb

Great to see your back on two feet , well done and lets hope 2012 gets better for you

I 'm really glad that you had your bike fixed, plus at a smaller cost than the initially estimated. Indeed it restores faith in bmw ( and humanity... lol )
Hope you family member gets better too.
Regards :beerjug:

I'm with SwissRob on the feelings of 'guilt' but hey, WTF - you've got the bike back, BMW have been bloody decent and done a lot more than they were obliged to given that the bike was well out of warranty - top marks to them.

Glad it's one less worry for you my friend.

Take care of yourself

Greg

Did they do all that because it was under a warranty?

No out of warranty stephen, I explained that am a low paid worker. I have sunken a huge amount of savings into enjoying and been apart of bmw. My financial situation isn't really good can you please help me out. I still love it!

Then armed with the feed back from people on here, I explained I still wanted the 50% discount offered. But from my friends view point it looks to be a engine part issue, will you please do me 75% discount. Can you be as polite as possible when asking this as I really do need further help.

:surrender

Really glad to hear your back on the road, it's good to hear that your BMW dealer went that extra bit. Let's hope it's start of you having some good luck as you've had enough bad luck. Chin up. :thumb

Good news Paddy and great to have you back on the road. The world is not the same without that purple 800 whizzing around the place :thumb

So pleased you're back on the road Paddy, and that your dealer was as helpful as that. I know the money will sting for a while but hopefully you have a bike that will give you years more troublefree service now.
