Started my bike this morning (1150 adv. GS), after a little warming up, I opened and released the throttle, no problem, I opened throttle again after which the engine give a bang, and smoke came out of the inlet tubes.

Restarted after this problem and now engine produces a lot of blue smoke, after further warming up, it keeps on producing blue smoke after coming back in rev's.

Anyone an Idea of what went wrong and how bad this could be ?

THanks for your ideas

Regards, Yvo

Piston rings, maybe......dropped valve?

A proper answer will be along shortly.....

it is not recommended to start the bike and let it idle to warm up, but to start it and ride it 'moderately' till it warms up, 2/3 bars, before giving it some beans

as for the smoke as Mr K says someone will have an answer soon:comfort

Well if it runs it can't be that serious.

Where exactly is the smoke coming from ? have the inlet stubs popped off ? have you refitted them ?

Did you overheat the bike by warming it up ?

Hello Steptoe eo.

the smoke came from the inlet pipes who didn't pop off.
I don't think the motor was overheated, had just been riding/playing a little in the garden with only 1 block displaying in the temperature display.
After the incident, the motor is still running but, went out for a ride, just when I come down from high rev => low rec, a blue cloud escapes from the exhaust ...
Might be that I have some power missing, but this can be a subjective impression.
