How stupid do I feel. After following the BMW manual regarding the removal of the left and right handlebar controls to re-route the brake line and clutch line in order to fit bar risers I got myself in a total mess, failed to disconnect everything and ended up putting it back together and taking it to work for the fitter to look at......after wasting about 3 hours. Five minutes after the fitter had seen it the job was done both sides. Simple when you know how. Undo one fork nut at the top, drop fork, pass through cables and rebolt. Repeat for other side. Fit risers. Stand looking stupid while entire fitters shop workforce falls on the floor laughing.
Moral of this tale, when all else fails ask somebody who knows what they are doing.
