Right I am looking to raise my handlebars on my R1150GS (standard: 2000 model), and lower the foot pegs.

Foot pegs = fastaways or similar.. thats an easy bit so I am told.

So.. Bar Risers, I have seen at least two sizes and been told that the smaller increase is the only one that requires no additional alterations (ie brake lines).

Being tall bugger 6'3" and having suffered badly with my riding postion at the last Advrider rallie in Rayader, I am thinking of raising the bars. But question is, what size/make/type and what else will I have to change?

I've got Wunderlich ones and their very good. You can adjust them back and forth, up and down. Don't think you need to change anything.

Cant find em..

Just had a quick trawl on the net Trippy and can find some 25mm and 35mm straigh risers but no adjustable ones..

Any idea where they can be got in the UK on line? or are my searching skills letting me down.

Migsel does some straight risers, but anyone else do adjustable ones or ones which bring the bars back slightly.

I'm 6'2" myself Rocks and have fitted 25mm risers to my 1150. Coupled with 30mm lower footrests from Migsel (very highly recommended) they have had a dramatic effect on my comfort on the bike.

I played about with the bars, tilting them forward and back until I found the position which suits me best. Takes a day or two to get just so, but worth the effort.

HTH :)

Think their the ones on Steves 2nd link.
They look the same anyway.

Rocks

I stuck a set from Touratech on the 1150ADV because I have a similar problem to you with being 6 foot 2 and much of the height being in my back. I found that the front wheel felt a little bit more "vague" with this setup - I didn't like it at all.

I'd still like to get something that works but I think I'll need to experiment with "up" sets and "up and back" sets to get something I like. If you really think it is necessary to go down this route, try to see if you can ride a bike with different set on, or buy them with a view to selling them on if they don't work out.

And get a set of Tobinators if you don't have one - you can almost guarantee that the change will put you into the windblast:(

Break lines and cables..

I have tobinaters fitted, and had to re-adjust when i went to the TT seat instead of the standards so quite expecting tohave to re-adjust it for the new position.

The wunderlich ones are a little pricey even if you can adjust them to several different positions.

These look ok though: http://www.boxer-design.de/en/rohrlenker_adapteeer1100gs.htm

Anyone got them fitted and can tell if if they had to changet the break lines with these fitted?

Bear in mind Rocks, that if you're using the bike off road you want the bars as near in line with the forks as possible (I like to have the first rising bend of the bars lined up with the forks). If they're pulled too far back the bars become like a tiller, and as the front wheel gets bashed about the movement will be exaggerated through your arms, and the steering can feel heavy.
The TT risers are a straight rise - better off road, but bars can feel a bit forward for prolonged road use.

Good point..

Spout, cheers.. i had suspected that if they were brought too far back that would happen.

As far as road riding goes, my bike it pretty comfy in its standard configuration. It is to straighten my posture whilst standing on the pegs that i want to raise the bars and drop the pegs a little.

I have Wunderlich ones. They are fully adjustable and took 10 mins to fit. The instructions tell you to remove brake cables etc but all I did was drop each fork leg through the headstock and re-route the cables that way. A doddle even for a mechanical muppet like me.

Rocks, I'm 6' 3" as you are and have fitted fastways and a set of Nippy Normans Bar Risers with setback, nothing complicated, take existing top clamp off' lift bars, put NN's on, drop bars into new position and screw down, really as simple as that, no worries with brake or clutch or anything else, and bloody lovely to ride with. £35 + pp

Edit: Just had another look at NN's and I suppose if you wanted to, you could put these on 'back to front' if for some strange reason you wanted to.
