as i have to replace the protection bars does anyone manufacture a complete aftermarket set ie tank and engine as on the adventurer, or do i have to buy bm ones.

What's the bike, ?? I've a 1150 with wunderlich protection bars and an 1100 with hepco becker bars that protect the engine and do offer "some" tank protection if thats any help.
Hepco becker do a full bar system I'm sure. It comes in two peices, one for the lower half and one that goes over the tank and up around the headlights. Might be worth checking their site.

It's a r1200gs adv i had a look but i think they only do one for the 1150,
