Basecamp 4.3.3 update Borked

As a slight aside to my original post, just looking over the new installed basecamp 4.3.3 and I cannot find the check for updates button anywhere, I seem to recall it was under help pull down menu previously?

By default the software checks for updates automatically but to check manually click BaseCamp > check for updates.

Is there an "About" tab on the toolbar?

There's 'About Garmin Basecamp' in the help menu but this just brings up a dialogue with some version details, a button for 'copyright info', 'system info' and 'close'. I reckon, as iand46 infers, that it will just pop up an alert when a new version is available.

to check manually click BaseCamp > check for updates.

I don't see that option in 4.3.3 :nenau

Sorry for that I use a Mac & didn't think the toolbars would be so different but they clearly are. Try a search with the BaseCamp help tab

It is there: just below (2 or 3 items from memory) below the "About base camp" button.

Yes, downloaded from Garmin

Click the "Basecamp" menu item at the top of the screen and "Check for updates" is the 4th item down.

I cannot imagine why there would be two unique versions of Basecamp depending on where you downloaded it from though.

But, that said, stranger things have happened!!

BTW, I am running 3.2.4 and if I ask it to check for updates, it says that I am up to date. Have Garmin pulled the 3.3.1 and 3.3.3 updates because they were causing so many problems?

The updated Mac version of BaseCamp I use from the Mac App store is 4.3.1 which was released 16th May 2014......https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/garmin-basecamp/id411052274?mt=12
You have control of how it carries out updates on this version through the Macs own settings.

The Mac version available online is 4.3.3 released 4th June 2014........http://download.cnet.com/Garmin-BaseCamp/3000-31713_4-75705192.html The Garmin site does not quote the version no (suspect same)

On the pc 4.3.3 version there is no Basecamp toolbar button or check for updates button on the topmenu (if basecamp was meant to infer open the app)
The search /help function results within 4.3.3 is also different /out of step with 4.3.3 in that it also says 1.Click BaseCamp > Check for Updates
and to set for auto updates it says 1.Click BaseCamp > Preferences > Software Update.
there is no basecamp button or pull down menu with preferences listed so all a bit odd or another example of half cocked garmin software releases being beta tested by the public.

Yes I could, but there must be a reason why Garminare only offering 4.3.1 on their own website. And it was 4.3.1 that I downloaded from the App store that bombed for me!!

I will hang on a bit I think

As getalife has said: If you get the missing dll error, uninstall Basecamp, delete the Basecamp folder in Programs (x86)\Garmin and reinstall.

Except for me :-( Basecamp starts to initialise and then disappears. Asked what to do on the Garmin Forum, nad if I get a reply I'll post it here.

And there was me thinking Garmin had started to get their act together.
