I have a couple of maps that are on the SD card of the unit. If the unit is connected to the PC, BC will read these maps, but it can take a while to load them and often it fails.
You cannot just copy these to the HD and read them.
I found a little utility that creates a virtual SD card on your hard drive and providing it is set as "removable", BC reads it so it is listed in your "Devices"
Copy your .img files to a \Garmin directory on the virtual drive.
Works well.

You need the ImDisk install package. It will add an icon to your Windows control panel (all control panel items. Set the view to icons. Large or small).
