Basic mechanical course

Anyone know to any basic mechanical courses evenings or weekends in the West Mids area? Preferably bike related but if I can't find one of those I guess a car based one would be quite useful.

I would like to learn how the main components within the engine work, in order to help me with fault finding / diagnostics.

I already do a lot of my own servicing but that is just a case of common sense and following instructions in a manual.
