Very nice. Which do you prefer? For me, I like the look of the big tank and like the not having to fill up very often, but I think the small tank is better to ride

Yes agree, same thoughts as you. Small tank looks better and reduced weight increases handling but the big tank really does save on visits to the fuel station……

I too prefer the look of the small tanks plus I find the big tanks aren't a good shape to get comfortable with the dents for your knees aren't big enough I find .extremely practical on a trip though. beautiful bikes

Yes it is. The picture was taken in 2010. Feck me can he ride! Pretends to be a grumpy old git but is a hell of a nice guy.

And here's the man himself.

Update….Speigler front brake disk (300mm) with 4 pot caliper, and stainless hose. ( kit via a very fine member on here, so wasn’t the huge expense of the kit new)
Front brake is now far better……stops like it should.

Refitted the WP rear shock after an overhaul by Lucasz at T tech suspension ( DenZo on here)
Bike rides better, but the rear is now showing up the front forks…… time to open the wallet and buy some andreani cartridges to update the front forks to modern suspension.
I like this bike enough to spend a little time and money on her.

Did you fit the adriani fork cartridges?
Yes…. Andreani cartridges fitted ( using the very helpful “how to” guide kindly put on this forum by Robert o’toole)
Not a difficult job really.
Just need to dial them in properly, but they are far better than how the forks felt before. …. Less harsh, more modern feel to them.
Had to fit aftermarket indicators on the front as the originals fit onto the top of the forks, and the Andreani cartridges don5 allow for refitting the bmw brackets. Used motone clamp-it pieces to fit to top of the forks, and universal indicators…… not exactly perfect, but they do fine. The clampits needed a small piece of rubber from an old inner tube to take up the size difference …… useful stuff old inner tubes!

All in all, the Andreani cartridges, and getting the original WP rear shock rebuilt by DenZo have made the handling far better.
Worthwhile money spent imho ( that’s “ man maths” for you)!
