Missus just rang. Her car failed the NCT for 1 reason only. Guess what it was....

I forgot to take the hubcaps off. Car must be unsafe so..... Where is the logic in that? :censor:

As far as I know they need the hub caps off ( I don't know why ) but they won't remove them so the fail. JJH

It's daft if you ask me. They didn't even ask the missus to remove them during the inspection or it would have taken one of their lads 20 seconds.

She had to drive down the road, remove them, then return to the NCT centre where they passed her on the spot.

if the hub caps are on they can not see if the inside of the wheel is damaged,or if there are wheel studs missing :augie:augie
they could be more helpfull but say that rules are rules and that they are being watched on camera,
also if they do it for one they will have to do it for everyone "all testers words not mine"
i had a fiat punto fail one time because of the state of the wheels, the paint on the wheels was flaking and they looked dirty without the hubcaps on

depends on the mood on the day i think

Wait till they start getting their hands on our moto's

hahaha

thats ridiculous

if youve driven more than 200 ft youll know if the wheels falling off

thats nuts (SIC)

A friend of mine had a fail a few years ago, the county of registration was not on the registration " as gaeilge" He asked the tester, what should it read and the tester replied, " Don't ask me , I'm Polish" Mad but true.

I would imagine that their insurance does not allow for any unauthorised people in the "garage" area of their premises....that's why your wife was not invited in to take them off.

As for "it would have taken one of their lads 20 seconds"....what would you be saying if one of them accidently broke a hub cap.

The bottom line is that your wife didn't fulfill the requirements for the NCT as stated on their forms and their staff followed the rules set down by their bosses.
What's the problem?
Did she have to pay again?
