they had some at £9999 in South Wales Superbikes, Newport

Here is another photo, some of them have the exhaust cover painted and some of them don't.

Spoke to Fowlers again today, they were painted at 8 ball. They were blue or grey from the factory.

The one in the window sold, went in today and brought it.
Nearly went for the dark blue very good price but sold out only Matt grey left at that price.

With most new 1200cc Adventure bikes costing £12k - £15k (or more) the S10 is a real bargain at around the £10k mark.

The lack of electronic suspension is a bonus for me with less to go wrong and the availability of much higher quality units such as Wilburs / Nitron / Ohlins which can be had for the money you save, I would rather spend 30 seconds adjusting for a passenger and then have hours of riding a much nicer handling and more comfortable bike, than pressing a button to adjust the lesser quality OE kit.

Agree with you there rasher. I've seen the new 1000cc vstrom for £7500 Brand new ! They look a good bike and seriously good value too, but no one buys them for some reason. I guess we all have either blinkers on or are wealthy enough to not bother

I think the 50/50 purchase deal (50% now and pay 50% in 2 years)is still on which proves they are trying to shift them, they are good value but much like the Versys they seem to me to be the same machines as the smaller versions with a bigger engine slapped in, to me things like the handlebars and some frame parts don't look man enough for a 'big' bike, seats seem smaller and narrow (maybe I have a big bum)

probably do the job but the image on these bikes means a lot and next to a S10 or a GS they don't stand up, to my mind anyway.

Some dealers seem to be able to sell the 1 litre V-Strom, others can't give them away. £7500 will be a for a 1 year old + bike, hopefully unregistered ......
And, at that price, apart from image is the WC GS twice the bike?

and that is exactly why I bought a Super Tenere in 2011. Reverse snobbery if you like. I'm probably just as image conscious but I didn't want to be one of the "must have a GS" sheep.

I'd still have one if the hepatitis E virus hadn't nearly killed me and left me with chronic symptoms that makes handling a large Adventure bike difficult.

I miss the bike to a certain extent but an MT09 Tracer continues to put a smile on my face, just because I can manage it at under 200kg.

thats because it does not say BMW GS or yamaha super tenere.....................wealthy enough not to bother is my guess

Loads of great bikes out there for 10k......

Indeed, I love riding my 650 V-Strom commuter, as much bike as any of us really need (for solo use) in most respects, but the build quality and robustness is nowhere near the S10, and I think the same applies to most of the sub £10k bargain bikes like the MT-09 and V-Strom 1000.

The likes of BMW / KTM / S10 appear to be built to relatively high standards with larger forks, thicker bars, better general finish etc.

The S10 it is up there with the best of the £15k bikes in terms of build quality, and is arguably the most reliable 1200cc Adventure bike but sits closer to the budget bikes in purchase price - and also has a shaft drive, plus the now obligatory (on premium bikes) traction control, ABS and cruise control.

The only other bike offering similar value is the 1200 Explorer, and they also crop up seriously discounted, my mate paid well under £10k for his one brand new - in fact the same dealer wanted more for an Ex Demo S10 than they were punting out new Explorers for at the time.

Given a big lotto win and the finances to just buy a new bike before the chain needs adjusting it would be a KTM or Ducati for me.

I'll have that off you when you sell it in a few months like you did with your previous ST10. :D

I was thinking the same. A nearly new S10 will be for sale on here soon :D

No I have learned my lesson, that was one of the best bikes I have had and I am just glad to be going back to one. I am not a user of the electronic suspension so not worried about not having it.
Really happy to be going back to the Yamaha.
Get on and ride!
