Left plugged into bmw battery conditioner all the time it's not being used. 1st battery lasted 6 years and around 30000 miles, this one 2.5 years and around 13000 miles, anyone got any suggestions why this one has died in less than half the time?

Was looking forward to a ride this morning, absolutely dead, plugged the conditioner lead back in, still nothing except the headlight flashing every 30 seconds or so.

Bahnstormers coming to get it in the morning, go on then, guess how much it's going to be.

Well for getting the dealer involved I reckon if you get change out of £200 notes you'll be lucky... however you could have bought a new battery for about £60.
I'm also curious as to how your batteries die with the super BMW charger.

Mine haven't with an Optimate or Oximiser...

i replaced my 9 year old battery as a precaution.

Why are you getting the dealer out:nenau If it's not warranty, you are are going to get an eye watering bill. Cancel the dealer and get on t'internet and get yourself a Motobatt battery for about £50.00.

Get a MotoBatt off eBay around £60 delivered and less than ten minutes to fit... Includes having a cup of tea...

Bahnstormers...

£140 battery
£35 fitting charge
£75 collection fee

So, around £250???

You can't really blame the dealerships if you're going to call them out, pick up your bike, fit a new battery and then return the bike to you. They're not charities at the end of the day.

Dealership pickup for a battery change?! Have you not noticed how accessible it is?

Now a ZX12r - that's a sod to change! Seat off, tank off, fuse box cover off, wiring removed, awkward retainers - about 25 bolts!

Bike collected, need a couple of other jobs doing at the same time, battery from Bahnstormers sub £100. Don't do anything to the bike myself as it usually costs a lot more to put right what I have cocked up.

We all have our talents mine is certainly knowing not to start any mechanical/diy jobs in the first place.

This would have been a good place to start understanding what you are riding. Most jobs on a GS are very simple and changing a battery is the easiest thing in the world. You would also save yourself a shed full of money. There are plenty on here wold wold be happy to help and get you on the road to a bit of routine maintainence.

Each to their own I guess.

I agree. I was fortunate enough to attend one of Mikes (Mikeyboy) maintenance workshops this year which was tremendously useful.

Danny....may be worth dropping him a PM to enquire about workshops in 2015......
