Battery drain current when off

Can anyone tell me what the battery drain current should be when the bike is off (key out, steering lock on) please?

My bike is a 2005 GS.

It won't be because it's maintaining the clock and the trip counts. I know it won't be much but I want to know what the spec is so I can compare it with mine to see if I have a problem.

Yes but it's switched off.

About 60mA according to my old analogue meter.

It should be a few mA. 60 is high and will flatten your battery in a week or two.
Sounds a likely amount for an alarm.
Not an issue if you're riding it every day, or you've got it on trickle but a problem otherwise.

Mine wasnt used for about 2 weeks I put it on charger it's meter went halfway I dont have trickle yet but do intend fitting one asap mine is alarmed a thought is you could have a partly removed alarm unit worth checking though it to find out.

I investigated this in cars a few months ago, when a new battery started to misbehave, and the local suppliers passed it as perfect.
A modern car will draw between 25 and at the upper limit 50ma. It draws more for the first couple of mins after locking, then it goes to sleep at the 25 to 50ma value. Anything over this will cause problems.
Motorcycles have to draw a lot less because of the smaller battery.
My 1200rt lies over most winters (Start November to end February) with no charger on it, and usually starts without jumping.
There is a BMW alarm on it, but, in the six year+ I have owned the bike, I have never armed it.

Bit confused this morning as my analogue meter gives me 0.06 amps (60mA) which a half deflection so not just a tiny movement and my digital meter gives me between 0.00 and 0.01 amps.

A man with one watch always knows the time, a man with two is never sure.

Anyway, got a new battery as the old one dipped a lot on the starter and failed to start (click click) the other day. It used to be able to stand for a couple of weeks (well, it did once when I didn't have the opportunity to use it) and this weekend it went flat form thursday through to monday.

You've probably got a cel/s gone or going down that's why it's loosing power.

Starts and runs a lot better with a new battery. I'll see if it goes flat if I stop using it for a while.
