Has anybody ever fitted a battery isolator switch to a bike.

I also have a K1200LT and from time to time the I experience electrical problems when something in the electronics package starts bleeding power even when the bike was shut off. On a few occasions on tour I have found the battery to be dead the morning after a day's riding. These BMW's have had electric gremlins in the past, and it is a known problem. :nenau

I'm thinking of fitting a battery isolation switch and wondered if anybody here has ever done this and are there switches on the market specific to bikes. :thumb

BT, yep one of them, I was just wondering if there is a bike specific one that is smaller in size given the limited space. There is a motor spares place two doors down from my office and he has one of those for £7.99. I think I can find space for it the problem is finding somewhere safe and solid to mount it.

Hi lord Snooty,

I have an GS 1100 and similar problem, broken ignition switch\lock.

I purchased an isolator switch similar to the ones mentioned in the post's and

fitted it in the tool area underneath rear seat works atreat, the key sticks out

above back wheel, still plenty of clearance even when two up.
