If the battery is in good condition, and there are no electrical faults on the bike, the battery will hold a charge for months without use, even in a very cold winter. I know this from first hand experience.
Incidentally, my OEM battery lasted for 3 1/2 years before showing a slight dropping off in performance. I decided to replace it, just to be on the safe side.
