Just a quick question. I had real trouble starting my 1150GS this morning and i was going to charge my battery tonight before i reluctantly buy a new one! I only have a standard car charger and was not to sure if this is ok for smaller bike batteries or do i have to get a bike specific charger? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and may help me save a few quid too!!

:blast

My inital thoughts are that if the battery is goosed, using a car charger will make sure it's terminal.

Very carefull use of the car charger might work once or twice, but I'd never recommend it. Best get a 12v bike specific one, and as you've a non-canbus bike, get one with the DIN = BM plug on the end for dead easy charging.

Thanks alot John! Better go out and get one of those optimate things then and see if i can save this battery. Cheers

Using your car charger will be fine.

Instead of a new charger, you might need the money for a new battery.

It's down to you but if the battery is on it's way out I'd bite the bullet and get a new one. No poinit chucking good money at a knackered battery. If you ride regularly ish no need to keep the battery on a trickle charger.

I run Hawker Odyssey batteries now. Started my ancient Guzzi on sunday which has been stood since August last year. Rumbled into life on the first crank :thumb2 Money well spent
