Battery swap

I called the BMW assist dude here today as I found I had a knackered battery.
Hes coming back tomorrow with a new battery so I thought I would speed things up by taking off the battery.
Problem is, how the heck does the battery come out.
This might seem a dumb question, but do you have to remove the rear shock coz that battery is going nowhere?

1 more thing. The battery has already been renewed last august.
The bike was new on sept 07. Whats going on with the batteries FFS.
Ive only had my bike a month but allways keep my bikes on the BMW optimisers all year round. Maybe last owner didnt. Bike had only done 2k miles.

I would suggest you look to purchasing a befier battery as the stock ones are not the best. Do a search in the HP2 folder and there are quite a few threads on this subject.

I can't remember if you need to remove the rear shock or not but its only 2 minutes to do that anyway

My battery was knackered too and I've only done 500km since new. Combination of old batteries and insufficient capacity. New battery is on an Optimate and it's fine.

I think its already a larger battery, hence why it wont lift straight out.
I know the shock comes out easy but how far will the back end of the bike drop with the shock removed. Will it need supporting and will it cause damage if its not supported properly?

You will definately need the bike on a jack as there is no centre stand. Just jack it up until the wheel is flush with the floor then it will be easier to replace too.
