Hey all

I found the negative terminal on my 2024 r1250gsa loose today, which I’ve never had on any of my bikes before. What I did notice, neither the pos or the neg terminal fixings have any form of washer under the head of the bolts. I can’t be certain, but I’m sure my previous bikes had spring washers under the bolt heads, to prevent them loosening.
I’ve checked real oem diagrams, but they do not show any detail on this. Could anyone please confirm this on their bike.

Will try and get through to my local dealer tomorrow.

I’ve never seen a washer on a vehicle battery car or bike. I’ve been playing with mine on the GS recently and there are no washers

you sure that is not the eyelet on the lead you are seeing

that chap needs to learn about the red post to the right of the battery for attaching accessories & jump leads!

My Odyssee PC680 came with a washer at each terminal……
Just saying…

Local dealer service desk has confirmed no shake proof washers fitted from new. However, the guy did say, finding a loose terminal when doing battery checks, is quite a common occurrence in their workshop.

I’ve now fitted spring washers to mine, more for peace of mind, than anything else.

Also just checked my 2022 Triumph ST900. That has a flat washer and spring washers under the under each terminal bolt head.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Case closed!

Hey Wessie

Just watched the video on my iPad and after looking at this screen shot from it, I’m 99% sure there is a flat and spring washers under under the bolt head.

This could have been fitted by the owner, but the terminal looks virginal, or even a requirement for the US market. As I said before, I’m sure my previous BMWs have has shake proof washers under the fitted and my current bike has them now as well.

I have loads of nuts, bolts and washers in A4 marine grade stainless so I threw a couple of spring washers on both my GSA and Tmax batteries for peace of mind. No loose terminal problems.
