So after 3 years the Yuasa (warranty replacement) has bit the dust

New one is £107 and the Odyssey PC310 is also £107

Has anyone got experience of the Odyssey battery in the XChallenge?

What's the fit like, in the battery compartment and do you have to mod the terminal connectors

Or should I just buy the OEM BMW one?

Any other batteries you recommend??

Thanks:thumb

Fitted the Odyssey to mine JB :thumb

We had them fitted to the F650GS's on our 'Long Way Home' trip 2005

Great piece of kit. Fit straight in, tight but no probs. A piece of the webbing straps we use round the back of the battery before you push it in enables you to later pull it out :thumb

The battery is lower than standard, but a tad wider .... but no probs, goes straight in.

My XCountry can stand a month or so an will start 'on the button' the power of the Odyssey has to be seen to be believed :thumb

When the F650's bogged down with the 76 (or was it 67) Octane shite served up in Mongolia we had to churn and churn the motors over before they jumped in to life .... Odyssey ruled supreme for us :thumb

:beerjug:

Motorworks (via Rainbow) were cheaper than Wunderlich

Cheers Mick,

How about the terminal connectors, same or different? Do you need the L Brackets?

Can't remember how the G series is fixed to the battery:blast

Fitted straight on ... the terminal connections for the Odyssey are small, so you'll need a washer with a small internal diameter for the larger holed standard connectors to tighten up to. Difficult to explain but very simple in reality. If I can do it JB then you certainly can :JB

Is the fit ok or do you have to pack it out a lot?

Looks good, 40% of the BMW or Odyssey price too:D

Pack it out.....ffs, have you forgot how small the battery bay is on the XC series!

Fit it and pull the o-ring loop retainer chord over the corner. That's all I've done, and no problems since.....:nenau

I got a replacement Yuasa from a supplier in Fareham- Bardon batteries i think.

Cost about £60 IIRC.

Just watch the cranking amps on other "equivalent" batteries...

That's fine

Finally went for the MotoBatt

£47 delivered from M&P, next day delivery

Fits snugger than than a snug thing, perfect fit for the XChallenge and better than the Yuasa in reality

Nifty option is the spare set of terminals, great for accessories etc

Once fitted, she fired up first turn of the starter - despite being stood for 2 months

Battery registered 14.1 volts straight out of the box, that'll do for me:thumb
