went to start my bike today.and the battery is flat not eaven the ignition light has come on the bike is a 06 reg what is the .life ove a battery

I'm afraid that is one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions. The battery may well be cattled after 6 years, but they don't normally go from working fine to totally dead.

How long since the bike was last used?

Did you leave the parking lights on accidentally? Don't know about the 06 bikes but on the current models you only have to press the LH indicator switch for a few seconds after switching off the ignition to activate the parking lights - they will totally drain the battery in a matter of hours.

Have you tried charging the battery?

'bout 6 years apparently.
If its original (and, at 6 yrs, it probably is), you've had a good run out of it.

Oh yes they do. Car did it, van did it. Fortunately (clutches lucky rabbit's foot) bike is still on OE battery after 8 years.

Luck of the draw, but modern batteries do fail instantly, unlike older lead/acid types that gradually detereorated.

may be a 6 year old bat is nackerd so i will get a new one as i am off to scotland next sunday four the first time lets hope the wheather is good
