My batterys gone on the blink, but 3 1/2 years old is about it I reckon, Bmw replacement is £89!! seems a lot to me, cheaper to buy one for my freelander!! anybody got an idea where I can get one at a decent price?

Give these guys a call, cheapest I've found for a Hawker PC680, great battery.

Will do mail order, as the battery is gel.

Seconded! :thumb

to be honest I just thuoght that it would be a gel type. but after takeing it out I see that it is the old type of acid joby!! and the levals were way down, so i,v toped them up and put it on charge and see what happens,

thanks

If you have a spare £60, put a Hawker in you'll not regret it :thumb

Save the old one for the PX :D

Thanks Les thats the decision I,v come to, postage at £16 made me think for a while,

I can always pick you one up and you can collect it at a weekend on a ride out, to save the postage.

Thats a very generus offer Les, I,ll consider it, but at the mo it dosent seem as though the old batt is charging, which means I,d have to push the bike!! I.ll make a few more calls locally and see whaat I can come up with as i,m sure the Hawker is the way to go.

re battery

Don't know if this helps....

South Yorkshire Batteries, Shoram Street, Sheffield, just quoted me £39.95 inc VAT for a new Varta 'wet' battery for the 1150 with a three year guarantee.

Cheers

I've got the same problem. Battery is 2 1/2 years old and gone wayoff west. Just won't charge. I think BM batteries just "die" althouh as my GS has a Spyball alarm I blame this for drawing most of the juice out of it - those alarms are a pain in the a$&.

Oh well, looks like a new one is needed.

I've already had two batteries on the gs, as I do a lot of short trips in the week, and use the bike all year round. Even though I use an optimate the batteries have not lasted.
So when the cold sets in and the abs needs to be reset every time you start you know its time to change.
The first was a wet one then I tried a bm gel, I have heard the manufacture of the gel is a big company in Germany that make a lot of batteries for wheel chairs, this said the battery is better for low grunt and should be completely flat then charged for optimum performance.
This could be a reason the gel does not last as its on a continual charge, the Hawker is a different beast and produces a much higher cranking power and does not discharged as quick (technology) when you use one you will wonder why you did not have one earlier. :thumb

:D

Just ordered one online for £70 as the 1150 was dead as a dodo after being neglected for the past month. Don't get that problem with a C90!

BTW the old battery is 3.5 years old, which seems to be the par for the course for BMW batteries in my experience.

I got a Westco gel type battery from here http://www.motorbikebatteries.co.uk/ last year for £69 inc next day delivery (it's gone up to £70 now), but at least it has proper terminals and fits without having to adapt anything

My old Guzzi used to scoff a battery vertually every year (owned it for 20 years) then i started pluging it in to a optimate type charger while lurkin in the garage between foreign jaunts and it now had the same30 quid battery for the last 5 years. Needless to say i now pug in my Gs on a similar charger.

6 years and still kicking..

My GS battery is the original.. on a 2000 x reg 1150.. i have had it flat twice but has always re-charged ok.. ( in my owner ship)
However, after last weeks flat episode ( after 3 months no use).. i will be checking the levels to ensure they are ok..

I have a meta 351a alarm, which is always on..also use an optimate, which poss wasnt plugged in properly last time.. hence went flat..
