2012 BEACONS RALLY

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

START: Will be in the Crychan Forest, near Llandovery; signposted from the A483 Llandovery to Builth Wells road at Cynghordy. The first riders will start at 11:01 on Saturday 11th August and 09:01 on Sunday 12th August.
MACHINE EXAMINATION / SIGNING ON: Signing on will be on Saturday between 09:00 and 10:30. Riding numbers will be issued at signing-on. Bikes MUST then pass through machine examination before you will be allowed to start. Machine examination will finish at 10:45. Please ensure that your machine conforms to the requirements of the class that you have entered, as defined in the ‘regs’. For those riding Sunday only, machine examination and signing-on will be between 08:30 & 09:00 only.
COURSE MARKING: The course will be fully marked with day-glo arrows to the normal Enduro standard. Orange for day 1 and green for day 2.
COURSE & SPECIAL STAGES: Lap distance is approx 35 miles, with two timed stages per lap. Each special stage will be un-timed on the first lap with subsequent laps timed. The number of laps per day will be announced at the start. On Sunday (day 2) the course and stages will be run in reverse to day 1.
At signing on you will be given the times you must start each stage and a time card to write them on. If you get to a stage early you must wait for your start time, if you get to a stage late the marshals will let you start at a convenient gap between other riders. There are no penalties for being early or late at the start of a stage unless you are more than 30 min. late, at which point you will be excluded. You will be timed to the nearest second on the stages and you will receive a penalty point for each second you take. Finishing positions and awards will be decided by the number of penalty points within class/group/capacity. Although you do not need to stop at the end of the stages please make sure the marshals at the end know your riding number, it is your responsibility to identify yourself.
SPEED: The average speed allowance for the whole of the course, including the stages, is set at no greater than 20mph. There is absolutely no need to ride at speed on liaison sections. Take time to admire the scenery: take some photos to show your friends where you’ve been!!
FIRST AID: Ambulances will be at the Special Stages. The nearest Casualty Hospital is located at Carmarthen.
REFUELLING: Will be located at the start/finish area, there will be no other refuel anywhere else. Toilets and refreshments will also be available at this area. No smoking is permitted in the forest, at the refuelling point or at the start/finish area. All petrol MUST be in approved containers.
TYRES: Front and rear tyres must be ANY fully ROAD LEGAL and “E” marked.
N.B. Tyres marked N.H.U. (Not for Highway Use) or similar, non-speed rated tyres and ANY motocross tyres are specifically EXCLUDED from this event.
NOISE: Any bike fitted with a type of silencer which is considered to be excessively noisy will not be allowed to start, or continue during the event, until it is made acceptable.
PLEASE NOTE - No motorised vehicles of any description are permitted in any part of the forest, along any forestry road, or on any part of the course - these are safety requirements and if ignored will result in exclusion.
FINALLY – Don’t forget to join us at Llandovery Rugby Club on Saturday evening (start time 7:30pm) for a buffet, quiz and presentation of the 2011 WTRA Rally Championship awards.
