Been reading ITunes won't work with Windows XP

Been reading that iTunes won't work the above format , any one any ideas ??? Or a different disc format I can use ???

I'd try it. Although I use a Mac, I do have a Windows XP virtual machine and iTunes works fine on that.

Go to the Apple website and download it, then you will know for sure.

I have 4 xp computers with it working perfectly. Plays music via an airport express.
I believe it will not work on 64 bit xp.

ITunes works as well on XP as it does any other windows system which isn't very well but it does work.

AFAICT that is the problem.

iTunes works on xp 32 bit, and vista 64 with a bit of fiddling, but not xp 64.

Yes I saw his other post about it being 64 bit after posting here. To be fair to iTunes on this occasion nothing really works with 64 bit XP. 64 Bit win 7 is fine though, not that it helps.

An operating system where the only way to shut down a programme is Control+Alt+Delete. Isn't that clever!

I think it is related to a laptop I sold here a few months back. It is 32bit XP Professional.

ITunes should work ok with it, you may need to install .net (free download from microsoft) if it requires it - however that is unlikely as apple program their apps in hardcore C++.

What are the errors that are coming up when you try to install it? Is it installed and just not detecting your phone/ipod etc? Is the computer authenticated to talk to your device (you need to authorise itunes to access your account and device - you only get 5 device connections to your account though).

One thing, If it is a connection problem, also try the USB ports on the dock as well as on the laptop itself - I can't remember if it diverts everything to the dock when it is docked.

Consider an alternative media player such as the open source Banshee http://banshee.fm/download/ I believe it supports your ipod or other devices, and will import its media.
