Belarus - Anyone been?

Belarus have relaxed the visa laws recently. If flying into Minsk airport you can stay for up to 5 days visa free. However, if travelling by bike or crossing via a border on land, normally visa laws apply.

I'm keen to visit later this year by flight and maybe on the bike next year. Has anyone been?

No but I tried last year and they don’t like people applying for visas at short notice

We rode through Belarus in 2005 ... lovely place to visit. The people are very friendly, laid back, not as dour as the Poles. The driving was chilled out, again unlike Poland or Russia

Mind you, things might have changed in the intervening thirteen years, but I doubt it

Looking at the latest news you can enter Belarus and stay for 30 days (if flying directly into Minsk). I'm thinking about going at the end of September.
