Belgium Police unveil R1200GS Police bike

The roads over there are so crap it is the only thing that will do over 30

As we say in The Netherlands, you do not need border posts to tell you when you cross into Belgium... the road surface will take care of that.

And then one should hear the Belgium's complain about the roads....

Casper

(no offense to Belgium, which is a nice country, nor the people from Belgium)

vaguely off topic but having recently had a 6 country European jaunt I can categorically state that Belgian roads are by far the worse.

What a joy to enter Holland and better still in Germany, Denmark very good too as was Norway, though Norway wins in pure engineering marvels, corkscrew tunnels expecially.

I rode 80k KMs in belgium on my GS....

The roads are very good, compared to Ireland anyway:aidan

Not fair.... we're talking about roads here. Ireland only has 2 roads, the rest are tractor trails :augie

But the roads that are available in Ireland are better quality than those of Belgium. Belgium is the only country in the world where I lost a tyre because of road surface.

There.... I've insulted 2 countries..... good start of the day for me...

Luxury, try Nicagragua, Sunny down town Mexico and all stations south!. So, Russian police have GS's, no wonder so many get stolen
got to keep them running somehow.

Disagree - last year I worked in Brussels for 7 months and so I spent each month in various towns both Flemy and Froggy (Levuen, Anvers, Brugge, Namen etc) and the roads were fine. Used to commute from all over the country on a Busa and ZX9 with no problems at all.

Terribly dull people though, on both sides.

If one ever trys to stop you just keep on riding.

It's sure to breakdown before you run out of fuel :D

Disagree, once you get to know a few people its a great place. Would never move back to UK. But Belgium, maybe...

I was riding in Ireland several years ago. I looked at the map and it showed a major road but when I got to the road it was dirt! Good thing I was on a GS!

By the way, Ireland is a beautiful country.

I thought it was just me. For a number of reasons our group does everything it can to avoid Belguim.

Crap roads
Litter and rubbish
Smell of piss and industrial strength toilet cleaner
Grumpy people

However, the roads don't improve much when you get back to Kent
