BeMoto (again)…..

Especially if the interaction is with me!

I spent many hours at Xerox in the 1990s getting people with your attitude and skills to use a computer so they could keep their job rather than get moved to collecting cardboard packaging from the production lines and feeding it into the baler ... not sure I would have the patience now.

And a thumbs down for BeMoto from myself.

Their price has been gradually creeping up over the last few years but this year has increased by almost 33%.
Their extortionate £90 admin fee seems to be making up the majority of this increase.

This morning i had an email from Bemoto who i have been with for years, informing me that due to my age (76) they will not be renewing my 2 bike policy in December.
Nothing i can do about either my age or their underwriters ageist policy of course but it does sting. I do and have done for over 5 years 1000's of miles a year on a Blood Bike as well as my own mileage, i'm fit as a fiddle, no heart or (other than an enlarged prostate) other health issues, gym 3 times a week but, never the less, i'm lumped in with the obese, unfit, heart attack candidates.
Annoying to say the least.
Just had the same treatment from Bemoto. Been with them for a number of years. No claims, max NCB. I'm much the same - fit as a fiddle etc. AIM certified. The email I received just said 'no quotes available' We had a to & fro of emails but they were very careful never to mentioned the age thing. 20 minutes spent on-line and I'm sorted with Hastings.

Reference my post (35) regarding the refusal to quote being due a bike on the 2 bike policy i hadn't owned for a year, is your bike new to you?

Changed the policy from a GS to an RS which I had for 8 months, then went back to a GS (which was older than the RS) for 4 mths. My renewal was due in January, but I've been with them for years. I got plenty of quotes from other companies, but not bemoto.

They don't inform you but it's likely you were refused i was, not had the bike long enough, crazy i know but there you go. I too had been with them years. Poor do.

Can recommend Hastings Direct (re price)
AXA no longer in the Bike market co Cornmarket replaced them with Allianz .
Both Bennetts and Allianz wanted nigh on £900 for a 2 yr old GS.
Got GS and a 24 plate Himilayan 450 insured, S,D,P and full business use, reasonable excesses for £612 62 yr old in West Yorkshire area

HOW MUCH?

HOW MUCH?
£612 multi bike was originally told by Cornmarket that AXA wouldn't qoute multi bike then later that they had pulled out the bije market.
Might add that I've got some IAM and ROSPA qualifications but don't really know how much difference that makes.
And they only put one down in any case
9 yrs no claims protected

That is extortionate. Your postcode must be a factor, and modern GS being a second hand spares magnet.

True, but better than lots on this site.
Ti's a minefield insurance
Rather be 'over' insured
eg I go occasionally to and from different place of work ,knowing my luck that would be the day I have an off, abd insurance companies love taking your money but find a myriad of reasons not to pay out

This Insurance malaky is most definitely a dark art, having read many times on here the price increases I was expecting my pants down at renewal with Be moto......renewed this morning a NT 1100 dct down by to £77 ( £279 ) with no changes to policy, good contact service too, nearly a similar situation on the other bikes too.....
Everyone is different I suppose and what we all feel is reasonable service ......

Mine went down by £95.67, back 2023 they were the best value. Just noticed they charge £5 admin? Rip off. Renewal notice email 3 weeks before the renewal date. That is because I asked them not to renew auto, which was confirmed in email.
I flip insurance policy all the time. Part of the game....

Well just got a renewal quote for my Bemoto multibike policy , same bikes as last year , 62 years old , clean licence , 46 years no claims , nice rural post code, secure alarmed garage and they are trying to bump it up from under £600 last year for my multibike policy with 5 bikes to just shy of £1000 .

Sorry but they can go and f*** themselves this year , time to ring around

PS just got an online quote from CN below £550

I had my Multibike renewal invitation for the 1250GS and Honda Crosstourer come in from BeMoto last month and decided to give them a call and try to get a bit knocked off the premium.

While doing so I found that the renewal quote documents had knocked off 2 years from my age - changing Date of Birth from 1947 to 1949. When I queried this, the guy confirmed that in previous years my DoB was shown correctly and said that he would see what difference it would make and put me on Hold for a while. When he came back, he apologised and told me that the Underwriter would no longer cover me due to age and had to get cover from another Underwriter. The premium being very similar to the other Underwriter. I told him that I would give it some thought before confirming renewal and hung up.

Next thing was to get a Multibike quote from Bikesure who included everything that BeMoto's Titanium product covered but for £82.00 less, so took up their offer rather than stay with BeMoto.

What made me switch, besides the lower premium was that if I had not noticed the alteration to my age and had taken up the initial quote from BeMoto - I feel that if I had to make a serious claim on the policy during the coming year, this would / could be kicked out if they found that I am actually 2 years older than stated in my Insurance documents and say this was down to me giving false information when setting up the policy.

Note: Always read the small print!

Just been on the phone to them - tried to cancel my policy Sat (renewed Sunday) and they were 'engaged' with no option to do anything online. Called this AM to cancel - "That will be a £60 fee'. Because I've had one day's cover. No cooling off period either as they automatically put you on auto-renew. Bunch of shysters the lot of them.

Avoid BeMoto like the plague.

Oh whoopie! I’m 76 this year…
So being 75 means I can’t get a loan nor test bike from Bahnstormers, and shortly I may have problems getting insurance too.
Great…
