BeMoto (again)…..

I just got a quote from Bemoto for my 5 motorcycles ranging from a 2020 Goldwing to a 1956 BMW r50.

Carefully went through putting realistic values and annual mileage and got a quote for their Titanium package of just under £500.

I noted the quote included £160 admin fee which is probably the negotiating margin a previous poster mentioned.

Now to see what the renewal quote from Bikesure is 🤔

Jeez Simon! £500? For 5 bikes? I’d rip their arm off straight out of socket. My singular motorcycle has a renewal quote (also Titanium) of £635!!! 😱

BikeSure is Ageas, Bemoto is KGM. But I've just been reading Simon Dippenhall's horror story with Bikesure.

Mrs Berin has a claim in process at the moment, broker is Footman James and they have been excellent - but she only got her Triumph quoted as she has her GS Basic covered with them.

I did resolve the issue with Bikesure; they admitted their error and conceded that it had caused me a nightmare over the Christmas period when I would have rather been spending time with family than dealing with Markerstudy (who were OK to deal with, by the way).

So Bikesure gave me a small three figure cash settlement - less than I wanted but enough to get me off the phone, and withdraw my complaint to the regulator.

Let's see what the Bikesure renewal proposal looks like, due to me in the coming days.

Glad you got it sorted. It seems that all of them are prone to making cock ups, and many have out of control automated routines that kick in and are almost impossible to stop.

I just got a quote with Bemoto, came back at £506 for 1250 GSA, XJR1300 and a Himalayan which was pretty good i thought but, few issues. Excess on GS £1100!! Insurer Markerstudy and what Wessie has said on here. Such a shame, they seemed really good at first.
Back on the blower to Bikesure and got down from £581 to £512. Done.
I got a good quote from BeMoto for cover from 3 June. Went on holidays for 10 days and then called them back today to accept the quote. Then they said there was a problem and the insurer was now declining to quote. No change in my circumstances, the bikes, or the dates of cover.

So in my view they (Bemoto) are a waste of time as the previous time, maybe 2 years ago, I called for a quote and they said they would call me back....but never did!

And not (in my view) a difficult risk: rural location, garaged, 12 years NCD, mature owner with IAM and RoSPA advanced qualifications.
Hey ho!

Been with them for a few years now, kept with them because initially great to talk to...
Renewal came through recently was a bit steep, and then lapsed 4 days ago because my credit card had changed (due to fraud).
Called today to explain and renew, bloke not interested, had to be a NEW quotation= £50 more than the renewal... explanation? Not interested in customer loyalty, computer says etc...

life is less stressful if you take full responsibility for renewals. A bit of effort can save much grief at a later date. Cancel any auto renewal and simply set a reminder to get quotes 3 or 4 weeks before renewal. Even before you have the new price from the current broker if they have yet to send it. Most companies will honour their quotes for a few weeks, giving you time to see of the current insurer is competitive.
Lots of research shows you get a better price in that 21-28 day period before renewal. Leave your renewal quote to the last day and you will pay more. Lots of research shows that those letting policies auto-renew do not get the best price, despite regulations saying they should get the same price as a new customer (but Mr Regulator, it is the same price as if the customer had called us at 23.59 on the day the old policy expired no 21 days).

You are right and this is what I routinely do. However Bemoto gave me a good quote but then couldn’t honour it 10 days later. My conclusions :
1. Don’t allow too much time to elapse, and
2. Don’t bother with BeMoto as they have been useless every time I have dealt with them

I mostly use https://www.topcashback.co.uk/compare/motorbike-insurance/ and I find the prices do not change much if you get a quote on 25, then 14 days, as long as you click through from the original email on day 14. The algorithm might be different if you get a new quote on day 14.

Talking to a mate yesterrday who has been with Footman James for years with a mixture of classic and more modern bikes. He is in the process of buying a 23 plate Tracer 9 GT which FJ will not cover as it is too new.
He tried Bemoto just to cover the Tracer and an XL 250 Motorsport (the other 3 bikes are just being left in secure storage sorned and uninsured.
Their best price for a 65 year old, rural postcode, max ncd and riding a bike for over 45 years was £1600 .
Same level of cover from Carole Nash .................. £315 .
Bemoto seem to be deliberately pricing themselves out of the market

All this negativity about Bemoto.
Had email from them today and they’ve negotiated a 15% discount with Biker Guard for one of their visor wiping systems.
You’re all far too harsh. 🤷🏻‍♂️
